PRP Treatments
PRP Treatments
PRP procedures involve utilising the patient’s own blood, which is placed into PRP Tubes and then centrifuged. This leads to the preparation of autologous platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) which can then be extracted and re-injected into the patient’s target tissue. A PRP Treatment at LA Lips® includes a personalised skin consultation with a certified cosmetic specialist utilising the T-Lab™ Kit by AVADERM®; the world’s leading and most innovative platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and fibrin (PRF) system. These products are ARTG-Listed (ID 325701, 325702 and 419610) and CE 2195 and ISO 13485 Certified.
With the protocols developed, the kit offers an optimal platelet recovery rate, platelet dose and purity:
- 4.4 billion platelets
- 95.2% purity
- 85.2% recovery rate
Our personalised PRP Treatment Plans are created, documented and communicated to our patients ensuring proper continuity of care. We target the areas of concern and ensure we are safely and effectively performing treatments in as little as 4 sessions.
Platelets, also known as thrombocytes, are small, colourless cell fragments in the blood. They are primarily known for their importance in clotting blood, but interestingly contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors. To obtain platelets, blood is taken from the patient and spun in a centrifuge. This leads to the separation of PRP (from the other blood components), which contain between 5 to 9 times the platelet concentration of regular blood.
Due to the high concentration of growth factors in platelets, PRP can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
- Skin Rejuvenation: Aiding the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, poor skin texture, acne, and scarring, as well as augmenting lost dermal tissue.
- Hair Growth: To stimulate the growth of hair for patients with hair loss and alopecia.
- Injury Healing: Including soft tissue injuries and arthritis in muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments.
- Other Surgical Applications: Including the healing of wounds, fat grafting, gynaecological surgery and more.
At LA Lips® we take great pride in providing PRP Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation and Hair Growth. Prior to making a decision about any cosmetic procedure, it is recommended to seek guidance from a qualified professional, where they can evaluate your specific needs and offer personalised recommendations.

Skin Rejuvenation
For PRP Treatment to the skin, a numbing cream is typically applied to the treatment areas. Please keep in mind however that numbing cream is discouraged if incorporating a Skin Needling session (commonly known as the ‘Vampire Facial’), as topical numbing acts as a vasoconstrictor. Vasoconstriction slows down the natural inflammatory response that is beneficial for new collagen fibres. Depending on how severe the skin condition, most patients require 4 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart. From there, maintenance sessions are typically required just twice a year.
We strongly endorse following our PRP skincare regime to ensure the best treatment outcomes. This involves applying a peptide serum to stimulate collagen production, a moisturising and hydrating gel cream and SPF 50+ sunscreen for added protection before and after treatment. This prepares your skin for the best possible foundation and recovery for PRP Treatment. Post-Treatment, we apply a cosmeceutical hydrating and healing serum to restore and maintain the skin’s barrier function, whilst replenishing compromised skin conditions for a quick recovery from treatment. We highly recommend continuing with the peptide serum at home along with your recommended skincare kit.
Hair Growth
For addressing hair loss concerns, PRP can be a very effective solution. Research suggests injecting the platelets found in your own blood and activating growth factors can improve the blood supply to the hair follicles and increase the thickness of the hair shafts. Numbing cream cannot be applied to the scalp due to infection control. PRP Treatment to the scalp and hairline is very straightforward; spot doses are injected to the concerned areas. Generally, patients commence with a series of 6 sessions, 1 month apart. Once this initial treatment phase is completed, maintenance sessions are recommended every 4 to 6 months.
If you do have hair loss concerns, we encourage you to compliment your PRP Hair Treatments with a hair regrowth product that contains Minoxidil – a topical solution that provides remarkable benefits to patients with hair disorders. Regaine® Minoxidil is one example of a brand that is available as a serum or foam at pharmacies across Australia. No prescription is required. Always read instructions before use and consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about Minoxidil. Complimenting medical-grade treatments at LA Lips® with at-home products, such as a topical regrowth solution, is a great way to maximise results from your sessions.
